We’re honored to share that Mr. Šunjka’s recently participated as a panelist in a in a Side Event during the hashtag#G20ACWG Meeting, hosted by the Brazilian Attorney General’s Office (AGU), UNODC, and World Bank Stolen Asset Recovery StAR Initiative which was held in Brasília last week.

The event titled ‘Direct Recovery of Assets in Foreign Courts: Possibilities and Challenges in Combating Transnational Corruption’ was convened with the aim of fostering a comprehensive exchange of knowledge and sharing experiences pertaining to civil remedies in the fight against corruption. Notably, the customary discussions on mutual legal assistance and formal international cooperation were suspended to underscore the autonomy and importance of civil proceedings in foreign jurisdictions as a means of asset recovery, in accordance with Article 53 of the UNCAC.
